Project 4:

A new home on a narrow downhill lot on a busy street has its reason for existence in the proximity and southern views of Trinidad Head.

The client wanted visual and acoustic privacy from the street and to engage with the glorious outdoors at the rear of the house.  The entry courtyard is set down from the street, which provides a buffer from the noise and traffic.

Upon passing through the front door into the vaulted entry hall, there is a line of site out the rear windows towards Trinidad Head.  The view beckons you to walk down the hall to the top of a broad flight of stairs where you are looking across the 12-foot tall great room and kitchen area. The entire rear wall is glazed. The light reaches back and fills the entire space. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a private southern patio that is wind sheltered by the roof of the living room below.
