Project 2:

This is a neighborhood of 10 small single family houses developed by the Humboldt Bay Housing Development Corporation.

The property was subdivided and the houses oriented so that each house has full solar access.  Each lot has one side with a zero-clearance setback; only the roofing and trim span the shared lot line.  Six of the houses have three bedrooms, a full and half bath, and a laundry room.
Three more houses are similar 2-bedroom models, and there is a single one-story model.

Each house has its own small PV system to reduce electric bills and a solar hot water system to reduce the use of natural gas.  South windows in the living rooms and most of the bedrooms contribute to passive solar heating.  Each house is filled with daylight, is temperature comfortable and has very low utility bills.
