Project 1:

The original house was a small prefabricated structure for temporary Coast Guard housing.  Subsequent to its first use by the government, it had been remodeled and added on to by more than one owner.  The current owners requested a new entry porch, an added master bedroom suite, and that the house be transformed into something delightful.

The new entry porch provides a fully covered area as well as an open trellis.  At the base of the cultured stone columns are bas relief castings of the family members’ handprints.  The columns themselves anchor and frame the entry way.

The new master bedroom wing reaches around the rear of the house to form an outdoor patio with a glazed roof.  The patio ties together the new and existing construction while providing some separation for the master bedroom.
